Beginner's method

The simplest way to solve the Rubik's cube: layer by layer, in seven steps, with few algorithms. Each step has its own page with the cases you'll find, the algorithm drawn move by move and its video.

Before you start

Hold the cube with the white centre on the bottom and yellow on top. In this method blue goes in front and red on the right. The centres never move relative to each other: they tell you the final colour of each face. If you don't know the letters for the turns (R, U, F…), look at the notation first.

In the drawings, the pieces of the step are in full colour with a black outline, what's already solved in normal colour, and what doesn't matter yet in grey: on your cube those pieces can be any colour.

What next?

Once you can do this method without looking, the next step is CFOP, the speedcubers' method. Each of its steps replaces two of these: F2L joins steps 2 and 3, OLL steps 4 and 5 and PLL steps 6 and 7. You already know the Sune (OLL 27), the T-perm and both U-perms.
